Volunteer at the River People Farmers Market!

Each week from mid-June through early October, dedicated community volunteers show up and make this unique farmers market a success. Setting up tents, welcoming shoppers, handing out information, and helping out in North Coast Food Web booths like Sprouts Club or Ice Tea & Pie. If you love local food, there is no better place to be on a summertime Thursday afternoon in Astoria than at the River People Farmers Market.

The RPFM is open from mid-June through early October.
Volunteer shifts are usually 3 to 5 pm and 5 to 7 pm unless otherwise noted.

2016 River People Farmers Market Volunteer Jobs

Volunteer Duties: Be friendly and knowledgeable, and available to answer questions about the farmers market, North Coast Food Web, the SNAP Match program and answer general visitor questions. Pass out information, recipes, and flyers.

Times: Shifts are from 3-5pm and 5-7pm.



sprouts club jenn webSprouts Club Market Camp

Volunteer Duties: Run kids’ activities at the Sprouts Club booth. Activities may involve gardening, cooking, crafts, games, or stories. Volunteers for this position need to complete a background check. Experience working with kids preferred.

Optional: Help plan activities! We’re looking for a 2015 Sprouts Club Coordinator.

Times:  Shifts are from 3-5pm and 5-7pm.


RPFM Dog sitterClicker and Dog Sitter

Volunteer Duties: Help us collect important data! For this position you stand at either entrance to the market with a counter, and click it every time someone comes in. Record your number hourly. Be friendly and welcome folks to the market. Help folks find the info booth if needed. Offer to care for dogs (not allowed in the market) if needed.

Times: Shifts are from 3-5pm and 5-7pm.


rebecca iced tea webTea & Pie Booth 

Volunteer Duties: A food handler’s permit is required for this position. You’ll serve tea and pie by the slice to customers, and take orders for customers who want to pre-order whole pies.

All proceeds from the Tea & Pie Booth help fund our SNAP match program, which provides access to healthy food for low-income individuals and families.

Times: Shifts are from 3-5pm and 5-7pm.



RPFM Crew webSet Up and Clean Up Crew

Volunteer Duties
For Set Up Crew: Unload tents, tables, chairs, flags, and other equipment from the trailer and help get everything set up and ready for the farmers market to begin.
For Clean Up Crew: Pack up all the tents, tables, chairs, flags, and equipment and help load them into the RPFM tailer. The more people  the merrier!

Times: Thursdays  2-3pm & 7-7:30ish
